Last updated: September 2026 · Applies to sortdapp.co.za and the Sortd mobile app

1. About Sortd

Sortd is a South African online marketplace that connects homeowners and individuals ("Posters") who need tasks done with independent contractors ("Taskers"). Sortd is owned and operated as a sole proprietorship based in Cape Town, South Africa.

We are a marketplace only. We do not employ Taskers, supervise the work, guarantee outcomes, or handle payment between parties.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and a resident of South Africa to use Sortd. By registering you confirm that the information you provide is accurate and complete.

All contractors are reviewed and verified by Sortd before their profiles go live. We reserve the right to decline or remove any contractor at our discretion.

3. How the platform works

4. Payments

Sortd does not process, hold, or facilitate payment between users. All financial transactions occur entirely off-platform between the Poster and Tasker. Sortd takes zero commission on any job.

Sortd is not responsible for non-payment, overpayment, disputes about amounts, or any other financial disagreement between users.

5. Contractor verification

Sortd makes reasonable efforts to review contractor registrations before approving profiles. However, we do not conduct criminal background checks, verify qualifications, or guarantee the standard of work performed. Posters are responsible for satisfying themselves that a Tasker is suitable for their requirements before assigning them.

6. User conduct

You agree not to:

Sortd reserves the right to suspend or permanently ban any user who violates these terms.

7. Reviews and ratings

Both Posters and Taskers may leave reviews after a task is completed. Reviews must be honest and based on genuine experience. Sortd may remove reviews that are abusive, defamatory, or clearly fraudulent.

8. Limitation of liability

Sortd provides this platform "as is" and makes no warranties about uptime, accuracy, or fitness for a particular purpose. To the maximum extent permitted by South African law, Sortd is not liable for any loss, damage, injury, or dispute arising from interactions between users, payment disagreements, or the quality of work performed.

9. Intellectual property

All content, branding, and software on Sortd are owned by or licensed to Sortd. You may not reproduce or redistribute any part of the platform without prior written consent.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the South African courts.
